On March 30, Microsoft announced the change of names for Office 365 subscriptions in SMB segment. The products will get new names on April 21. Prices, functionality, or distribution business models will remain unchanged for paid subscriptions.
- Subscription to Office 365 Business is becoming Microsoft 365 for business. It includes Office 365 Business Essentials, Office 365 Business Premium and Microsoft 365 Business.
- Certain paid subscriptions to desktop applications will now be called Microsoft 365 Apps. They include Office 365 Business and Office 365 ProPlus.
- The name of subscription for retail Office 365 customers is now changing to Microsoft 365.
What remains unchanged:
- Subscription price.
- Product functionality.
- Part number/SKU.
- Names of Office 365 Enterprise (E) products.
